A Webcam, A Stand, And The Computer You Have
Setting up a counting station takes a few minutes, and it is done once.
What you need
Three Things On The Bench
- A computer at the counting benchWindows or Mac, with Chrome or Microsoft Edge. The one already at the bench is fine.
- A USB webcam on a standA 1080p webcam on a gooseneck or arm stand, looking straight down. Document cameras work too.
- Your counting trayAny tray. Fit tray finds it in the picture and zooms to it.
Placing the camera
Six Rules For A Good Picture
- 01Look straight down at the tray, not at an angle.
- 02Fill the picture with the tray. The framing guide says Too far, Too close or Just right.
- 03Use steady, even light. Avoid a lamp that throws hard shadows or glare on the tray.
- 04Keep the camera still. A camera that moves makes every tray look new.
- 05Spread tablets in one layer. A tablet hidden under another can't be seen by anyone, or any camera.
- 06Photograph stock only, never a patient label.

Sign in
Use the sign-in we set up for your pharmacy, on the computer at the bench.

Open TabCount AI
Allow the camera when the browser asks, and pick the webcam over the tray.

Fit the tray
Press Fit tray. Rotate or mirror if your stand needs it. It remembers this camera.

Count
Pour, hold still, read the checked number, empty the tray. That's the whole loop.
If something looks off
Quick Fixes
What the screen says, and what to do about it.
- The camera won't openAllow the camera for the site in the browser's settings, then reload the page. Close any other app using the webcam.
- “Too far” or “The tray is small in the picture”Lower the camera, or zoom in, until the tray fills the picture.
- “Too close. Tablets are cut off at the edge.”Raise the camera until the whole tray is in view.
- “The checker is asleep”It wakes on the next tray, in about 25 seconds. After that, trays are checked in a second or two.
- An AI webcam keeps reframingTurn off its auto-framing, face tracking and auto-zoom in the camera's own app. The tray needs a fixed view.
