FAQ
Questions Pharmacies Ask
Short answers. If yours isn't here, ask us.
What is TabCount AI?
A pill counter for pharmacies. A webcam looks down at your counting tray, and TabCount AI counts the tablets on your computer screen, checks the count, and saves a photo of every count.
What do I need to use it?
A Windows or Mac computer with Chrome or Microsoft Edge, a USB webcam on a stand looking straight down, and your counting tray. There is nothing to install.
How accurate is it?
Every tray is checked by a second, stronger counter before its number is shown as the count, and every tablet is outlined and numbered so you can see exactly what was counted. If the checker is unsure about a tablet, it marks that tablet in amber and the tray is not saved on its own. You still glance at the tray before you bag it; the outlines make that quick.
How fast is it?
The preview updates live while you pour. Once the tray is still, the checked count usually lands in a second or two. The first tray after a long quiet spell can take about 25 seconds while the checker wakes up.
Does video of my dispensary leave the computer?
No. The live count runs in your browser. Only a still photo of each settled tray is sent to be checked, over an encrypted connection.
Where are the photos kept?
With the count, in Canada. Only your pharmacy's team can see them, and a saved count can't be edited, only voided.
Does it connect to Kroll or my pharmacy software?
It doesn't need to. Scan or type the Rx number and it is saved with the count. A USB barcode scanner types straight into the Rx box.
Does it count capsules?
Yes, tablets and capsules. Spread them in one layer: a capsule lying on top of another is the hardest thing for any camera to see.
Can I count with a phone or tablet instead?
TabCount AI is built for a webcam on a computer, so the count sits on the screen you already work at. If you count on a tablet today, tell us how when you request access.
Do I need NarcCount to use it?
No. TabCount AI is its own product. If your pharmacy also uses NarcCount for narcotic reconciliation, TabCount AI can count each narcotic count line on the webcam and keep the photo with that line.
What does it cost?
CA$37.50 per counting station a month, plus HST. A station is one computer with a webcam over a tray. Counts and staff logins are unlimited.
How do I get it?
TabCount AI is in early access. Request access with the form on this site and we will contact you about setting up your pharmacy.
Who makes TabCount AI?
The team behind NarcCount, the narcotic reconciliation software for Canadian pharmacies. TabCount AI is a product of 1001544035 Ontario Incorporated, in Mississauga, Ontario.
